In collaboration with Right to the City Alliance, Students for Housing Justice from the Design & Urban Ecologies Program at The New School will be hosting a Renters Assembly for University students city-wide.
To call further attention to the unjust housing situation in New York City-from unfair displacement to inhumane eviction to the change in rent-stabilization laws to De Blasio’s plan for affordable housing -we have been inspired to call to action a time and place to gather and generate awareness about what it means to live and be housed under the roof of New York City.
As students co-organizing the Renters Assembly with the Right to the City, we believe that New York City’s student population is a huge potential resource in the fight for housing justice. The goal of this assembly is to educate college and university students about the city’s housing crisis, how students can be both agents of and subject to displacement, and how they can work for change in tangible ways.
We want you to join us on May, 23rd, 2015 to continue to strengthen the momentum of fighting for housing justice for all!
